Abstract：‘Jiangcheng No.2’is a new watermelon F1 hybrid developed by crossing inbred
line‘296ACA’as female parent and‘313ACA’as male parent．It is of late maturity，and plant growth
potential is strong．The whole growth period is about 105 days and fruit development about 34 days in open field cultivation in spring．The fruit is elliptical in shape，with single fruit weight of 6-8 kg and yield of about 37.5 t· hm-2．The skin is light green with wide green stripes，and average skin thickness of 1.1 cm．The fl esh is red，with soluble solids content of 12.1% in center and 9.0% at edges．The cross-section is beautiful，with less fi berand high numbers of seeds．It is suitable for cultivating under open ground in spring in Hubei Province．
